What’s blocking AI adoption in companies today?
Here are the six biggest blockers that came up in the discussion:
- Unproven ROI – AI adoption stalls when companies can’t clearly see the return on investment. Is “cool” enough, or does AI need to prove it can deliver more value than alternative investments?
- Lack of AI education – Many organisations don’t fully understand AI, leading to fear, misconceptions, and slow adoption. How do we bridge the knowledge gap?
- Poor user experience (UX) – AI tools can be complex or intimidating. Even ChatGPT, despite its simplicity, was described by some participants as a “blank canvas” that some find daunting. Does AI need a UX revolution?
- Weak software support – AI tools don’t yet match the robustness of traditional enterprise software, particularly in onboarding and support. Is AI too immature for the enterprise?
- Hype obscuring value – With so many vendors jumping on the AI bandwagon, it’s hard to separate what truly drives value from what’s just noise. Are we lost in the hype?
- Lack of trust – From hallucinations to regulatory fears, many hesitate to adopt AI due to risk concerns. In heavily regulated industries, people’s number-one job is to make sure they don’t break the system—AI feels like a potential liability.
